Alumni Sharing: A Story of Overcoming Tough Times

🌟 Alumni Sharing: A Story of Overcoming Tough Times

In the year I graduated, I entered the workforce with great enthusiasm, believing that hard work would lead to success. But the pace of reality was too fast, and I quickly became overwhelmed by stress, unable to keep up.

Every day I was busy meeting my boss’s demands and adjusting to the new environment, but when I got home at night, I was left with a sense of emptiness and exhaustion. During that time, I often questioned myself: "Am I really cut out for this? Am I not good enough?"

“I told myself, this is just a stop in life, not the end.”

During that period, I started experiencing insomnia and anxiety, and even found myself tearing up on the subway during my commute. While my friends were getting promotions, bonuses, and traveling abroad, I felt like I was stuck in place, or even falling behind.

But fortunately, I met a senior who told me, “You need to allow yourself to go through tough times. The lows exist to remind you to adjust your pace.”

I started by making small changes:

  • Turning my self-criticism into encouragement
  • Writing a gratitude journal, recording even the smallest good things each day
  • Joining online communities to meet others who are also struggling
  • Learning new skills after work to regain a sense of accomplishment

I also began to practice quieting my mind and having conversations with myself. Instead of rushing to compare myself to others, I focused on the choices I was making in the present moment. Eventually, I found the courage to change jobs. Although I was starting from scratch, I finally felt like I could breathe again.

“It’s not that you’re not good enough, it’s that you haven’t reached the right place yet.”

If you’re currently in a low point, I want to tell you: You are not alone. Behind every success we envy, there’s a period of struggle and challenges. You’ve already tried hard, so please keep believing in yourself.

May we all find our own light in the darkness.
