🎯 Purpose

To enhance the interview skills and job market competitiveness of NSYSU overseas Chinese and international students, Mr. Lawrence Liao, Senior Project Manager at Schneider Electric, will be invited to share insights on commonly asked interview questions, communication and presentation techniques, and provide an in-depth analysis based on practical industry experience.

In addition, the event will include a mock interview session designed to guide students in mastering key elements of corporate interviews, learning how to effectively showcase their strengths, and ultimately increasing their chances of securing employment.

📌 Features and Implementation

To help international students enhance their interview skills and better understand the expectations of Taiwanese employers, this seminar invited Mr. Lawrence Liao, Senior Project Manager at Schneider Electric, as the keynote speaker. The seminar provided a systematic breakdown of the entire interview process, guiding students step by step through company research, self-assessment, and organizing professional experience into a structured preparation framework. The speaker emphasized the importance of the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) and demonstrated how to transform past experiences into concrete, measurable, and persuasive interview evidence. He also introduced techniques for crafting an engaging 30-second self-introduction, enabling students to capture the interviewer’s attention right at the beginning of the interview.

Regarding interview question-answering techniques, the speaker thoroughly explained the logic behind behavioral and situational interviews, including how to apply analytical frameworks, use the “conclusion first” approach to enhance clarity, and effectively demonstrate problem-solving abilities and workplace potential. The lecture also addressed practical considerations for online interviews—such as camera angles, background setup, lighting, and body language—to help students present a professional image in virtual settings. Through examples, guided practice, and real-time feedback, students gained a clearer understanding of the competencies employers look for when recruiting international talent.

Following the seminar, a group mock interview session was arranged, allowing students to practice self-introductions and interview responses in a setting similar to an actual interview. Students also had the opportunity to observe their peers and adjust their strategies based on feedback from both the speaker and other students. Through hands-on simulation, students were able to immediately apply what they learned, strengthening their on-the-spot reactions, logical communication, and self-presentation skills. Overall, the seminar and mock interview complemented one another, enabling international students to deepen their understanding of interview expectations in Taiwan, acquire practical and applicable interview strategies, and significantly boost their readiness and confidence for future career development in Taiwan.
