🎯 Purpose
The post-graduation employment rate of international graduates from the College of Management at NSYSU is 40%, with employment in Taiwan. In alignment with the establishment of the Career and Employment Hub for International Students in 2025, the College of Management is actively enhancing its career counseling and employment support mechanisms. To further support international students in their career development, we have invited outstanding international alumni to return to campus and share key competencies required for employment in Taiwan, offer insights on career planning, and their valuable job-seeking experiences. This initiative aims to help international students better understand Taiwan’s industry trends, enhance their employability, and successfully transition into the workforce.
📌 Features and Implementation
To help international students gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese corporate culture and job-seeking practices, the Office Career Development of the College of Management, the International MBA Programs (IBMBA & GHRM MBA), and the Office of International Affairs—Career and Employment Hub for International Students—jointly organized the event “Employment and Industry Development Trends for International Students: Insights from Outstanding International Alumni” on November 25, 2025. The event invited corporate representatives and alumni to share their experiences, providing students with cross-cultural career perspectives and industry insights.
The event was opened with remarks by Dr. Ming-Hsuan Lee, Vice President of the Office of International Affairs. Distinguished guests, including Professor Yih Jeng, Chairman Zhou of Aroko Door & Window Technologies, and Mr. Wang, an international business representative. They were present to introduce Aroko Door & Window Technologies and provide relevant information, giving students a preliminary understanding of the companies.
Following this, three outstanding international alumni from well-known global companies—Trent Prestegar and Steve Chen from Supermicro, and Hkawn (Joy) San from ASUS—gave self-introductions. They then shared their experiences of working in Taiwan in a panel discussion . Drawing from their international living and career experiences, the alumni offered practical advice on cultural differences, workplace adaptation, language challenges (such as improving Chinese proficiency), and cross-cultural communication skills, helping students gain a better understanding of the real working environment and growth trajectory for international professionals in Taiwan.
In the latter part of the event, free interaction time was arranged. While enjoying refreshments, students had the opportunity to engage in relaxed yet in-depth discussions with the alumni. Topics included building workplace relationships, effective social networking, finding like-minded colleagues, and demonstrating professionalism and confidence in a new environment. The alumni enthusiastically responded to student questions and shared their accumulated industry experience, creating a lively and rewarding atmosphere.
Through this event, students were able to seek advice from companies and alumni up close, gaining genuine and in-depth industry insights and career guidance, further enhancing their understanding and confidence in pursuing careers in Taiwan.
