🎯 Purpose
To support overseas Chinese and international students in securing employment in Taiwan after graduation, NSYSU has established the "Career and Employment Hub for International Students" in 2025. The hub aims to strengthen career counseling and employment assistance mechanisms. This event invites Ms. Coco Wu, CNC-certified Career Navigation Consultant, to lead a Career Coaching Cards Workshop. The session aims to help international and overseas Chinese students explore their career values and directions, gain deeper self-awareness, and enhance their competitiveness for employment opportunities in Taiwan.
📌 Features and Implementation
In recent years, the number of international talents seeking employment through the 104 Job Bank has continued to grow, particularly among individuals from Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia. To address international students’ increasing need for information about Taiwan’s job market and career development, a career workshop was organized featuring Ms. Coco Wu as the speaker. Ms. Wu brings a diverse professional background as a Career Navigation Counselor, a consultant with “Walk with You,” and the Product Marketing Manager at L’Oréal Taiwan. The workshop commenced with her overview of current trends and opportunities in Taiwan’s talent market.
Ms. Wu introduced three career card sets developed by Career Caretor Inc. (職游), inclusive of Competency Inventory Card, Value Navigation Card, and Career Explore Card, guiding students through key concepts including John Holland’s RIASEC theory, career development frameworks, the competency iceberg model, and the relationship between personal values and career choices. These activities helped international students identify their personality traits, strengths, passions, and core values, enabling them to design a career path aligned with their abilities and preferred lifestyle.
The workshop began with an introduction to the six personality—Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Enterprising, Conventional, and Social. Students were encouraged to select occupations of interest without considering factors such as abilities, salary levels, or social expectations, allowing them to better understand their intrinsic personality tendencies and career interests. This was followed by a competency-mapping exercise using the Competency Card Set, which enabled students to recognize their strengths and weaknesses through group discussions, and to develop actionable plans accordingly. Lastly, the Values Navigation Cards were used to help students identify the values they prioritize most, supporting them in clarifying their life direction before graduation and reducing the likelihood of job-hopping due to uncertainty or lack of clarity.
Overall, the workshop enhanced international students’ self-understanding and awareness of Taiwan’s job market, strengthened their career-planning capabilities, and provided practical tools for constructing meaningful career pathways.
