🎯 Purpose
The post-graduation employment rate of international graduates from the College of Management at NSYSU is 40%, with employment in Taiwan. In alignment with the establishment of the Career and Employment Hub for International Students in 2025, the College of Management is actively enhancing its career consulting and employment support mechanisms. To further support international students in their career development, we have invited outstanding international alumni to return to campus and participate in a World Café-style session. Alumni will rotate among tables to share key competencies required for employment in Taiwan, offer insights on career planning, and their valuable job-seeking experiences. This interactive format aims to help international students better understand Taiwan’s industry trends, enhance their employability, and successfully transition into the workforce.
📌 Features and Implementation
As the number of international students at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) continues to grow, many have developed a strong aspiration to pursue careers in Taiwan, inspired by the appreciation for Taiwan's vibrant culture and quality of life. In response to this growing demand, the Office of Career Development, College of Management and the Office of Global Industry-Academia Collaboration and Advancement – Career & Employment Hub for International Students co-organized the event “Employment and Industry Development Trends for International Students: Insights from Outstanding International Alumni” on May 23, 2025.
The event was opened with remarks by Dr. Shih-Hsian Chang, Director of Office of Career Development, College of Management. It featured five outstanding international alumni from globally renowned companies: Anna Kiseleva (NexAloT), Hkawn San (ASUS), Jan Stava (STMicroelectronics), Daniel Aschauer (CompaxDigital), and Trent Prestegar (Supermicro). Using a World Café format, each alumnus shared their personal career journeys and insights at individual tables. Discussions focused on topics such as job-seeking requirements in Taiwan, essential skills, and workplace adaptation, offering invaluable firsthand industry knowledge and career guidance to current international students.
Each alumnus brought a unique discussion style—some shared their experiences through presentations, while others engaged students through interactive Q&A sessions. Every 20 minutes, students rotated to a new table of their choice, allowing for dynamic and in-depth exchanges with different alumni.
The event concluded with an open networking session, where students continued their conversations with alumni while enjoying refreshments. The atmosphere remained lively and engaging. This event not only fostered meaningful connections between alumni and students but also significantly enhanced international students’ understanding and confidence in planning their future careers in Taiwan. Moreover, an alumni offered internship opportunities and full-time job openings after the event, resulting in a fruitful and mutually beneficial outcome.
