EVENT OBJECTIVES

Exploring Taiwan's Chemical Materials Industry, Corporate R&D, and Career Opportunities

To help international students gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan's chemical materials industry, corporate research and development environments, and future career opportunities, National Sun Yat-sen University organized a company visit to Eternal Materials Co., Ltd. Through company presentations, a guided tour of the company's research institute, career sharing by the Human Resources department, and discussions with company representatives, students gained insights into the applications of chemical materials, corporate talent needs, and workplace environments in Taiwan.

The visit introduced students to Eternal Materials' three major business areas: Synthetic Resins, Electronic Materials, and Specialty Materials. The company's Human Resources representatives also shared information about career opportunities and provided students with an opportunity to submit their resumes. This allowed students interested in working in Taiwan to connect directly with the company and take a practical step toward future employment. In addition, students visited the company's museum, where they viewed art collections acquired by its founder and explored another side of Eternal Materials beyond its industrial operations.

EVENT OUTCOMES

Exploring Taiwan's chemical materials industry is more than learning about material technologies and corporate R&D. It is also an important step toward understanding industry talent needs and future career opportunities in Taiwan.

Founded in 1964, Eternal Materials Co., Ltd. is one of Taiwan's major chemical materials companies, with products widely used in construction, coatings, electronics, semiconductors, and various industrial applications. Through company presentations, a guided tour of the research institute, and discussions with Human Resources representatives, international students gained a broader understanding of the diverse applications of chemical materials and how Taiwan-based companies contribute to global supply chains through materials research, technological development, and innovation.

The visit also combined career-related information with an opportunity to submit resumes. In addition to learning about the company's products and R&D environment, students gained insights into its talent needs and were encouraged to consider how their academic backgrounds and professional skills could connect with future career opportunities in Taiwan.

Understanding Eternal Materials' Three Core Business Areas and Global Presence

The visit began with an introduction to Eternal Materials' corporate history, major products, and industrial applications. Company representatives explained the importance of chemical materials across a wide range of industries. Eternal Materials operates in three major business areas: Synthetic Resins, Electronic Materials, and Specialty Materials. Its products serve traditional manufacturing, advanced electronics, and emerging materials markets.

Synthetic Resins

Synthetic Resins represent a major revenue source for Eternal Materials. The company's product portfolio includes coating resins, polyester resins, and polyurethane (PU) resins, which are widely used in construction, coatings, adhesives, and various industrial applications.

Through this introduction, students learned how chemical materials are used in everyday products and industrial manufacturing processes, as well as how material properties relate to different product applications.

Electronic Materials

In the Electronic Materials sector, Eternal Materials is a major global supplier. According to the company information provided, Eternal Materials is the world's largest dry film photoresist supplier, with approximately 50% global market share. The company is also a key supplier of advanced semiconductor packaging materials.

This introduction helped students understand the close relationship between chemical materials, electronics manufacturing, advanced semiconductor packaging, and the global technology supply chain. Students also gained insights into the important role of materials research and manufacturing technologies in the development of high-tech industries.

Specialty Materials

In the Specialty Materials sector, Eternal Materials is recognized as a global top-three supplier of UV-curable resins. These materials are used in optical films, cosmetics, optical fibers, and eco-friendly materials.

Through the introduction to Specialty Materials, students learned that chemical materials are not limited to traditional industrial uses. They also play an important role in optical technologies and emerging materials applications, highlighting the potential of materials research and innovation across industries.

By learning about these three core business areas, students gained a clearer understanding of Eternal Materials' product portfolio and technological strengths. The presentation also demonstrated how the chemical materials industry connects with electronics, semiconductors, construction, and other industrial sectors, broadening students' perspectives on Taiwan's chemical materials industry and its position in the global market.

Exploring the Research Institute: Materials R&D and Technological Innovation

Following the company introduction, Eternal Materials arranged a guided tour of its research institute. Company representatives introduced the R&D environment, giving students an opportunity to observe the workplace where materials research and technological development take place.

Compared with classroom-based theoretical learning, visiting the research institute in person allowed students to gain a more concrete understanding of an industrial R&D environment. The experience also helped them recognize the important role of materials research in product development and corporate technological innovation.

Through the guided tour, students were able to connect the information presented earlier with the actual research environment. This encouraged them to consider how their academic knowledge and skills could be applied in industrial settings.

Learning About Career Opportunities and Industry Talent Needs from Human Resources

In addition to introducing its industrial operations and research environment, Eternal Materials arranged a career-sharing session led by its Human Resources department. HR representatives introduced relevant job opportunities and the company's talent needs, helping international students understand the company from a job seeker's perspective.

Through the HR presentation, students gained insights into potential career development paths within the company. They were also encouraged to consider how their academic backgrounds, professional abilities, and career interests might align with the company's needs.

For international students considering employment in Taiwan after graduation, direct interaction with HR representatives provided a valuable opportunity to better understand Taiwan's corporate recruitment environment and identify areas for future job search preparation.

Connecting International Students with Employers Through Resume Submission Opportunities

One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity provided by Eternal Materials for students to submit their resumes directly to the company. This allowed international students interested in Eternal Materials and related industries to express their interest in potential employment opportunities.

By combining the HR career presentation with resume submission opportunities, the visit enabled students to move beyond learning about the company's business and workplace environment. They also had the opportunity to turn their industry knowledge into practical job search preparation and action.

This arrangement extended the company visit beyond industry learning and career exploration. It created an opportunity for international students to establish direct connections with a Taiwan-based employer and explore potential career paths for working in Taiwan.

Visiting the Eternal Materials Museum and Exploring the Founder's Art Collection

In addition to the company presentations, research institute tour, and career-related discussions, the visit included a tour of the Eternal Materials Museum. Students had the opportunity to view a variety of artworks and collectible pieces acquired by the company's founder.

Through the museum visit, students were introduced to different types of art collections, allowing them to discover another aspect of Eternal Materials beyond its research, manufacturing, and business operations.

The museum tour added an artistic and cultural dimension to the company visit. While students learned about Taiwan's chemical materials industry, technological development, and career opportunities, they also enjoyed an art appreciation experience that enriched their overall understanding of the company.
