1. Staying in Taiwan by Self-Employment through Company Establishment

  • Establish a company and register it as a “Foreign and Overseas Chinese Investment Enterprise”
  • Foreign investment must account for over one-third of the company’s capital
  • The applicant must serve as the company’s manager
  • Apply to the Investment Commission, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA)
  • Required documents include:
    • Investment Application Form
    • Investment Plan
    • Overseas Chinese Certificate or passport with overseas residency endorsement
  • Business operations must not involve industries explicitly prohibited from investment

2. Entrepreneur Visa

To apply for the Entrepreneur Visa, the applicant must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Receive over NT$2 million in funding from domestic or international venture capital, innovation funds, or crowdfunding platforms
  • Have previously or currently entered and been recommended by a government-recognized incubator
  • Hold invention or design patents, plant variety rights, or animal breed registration
  • Win awards in domestic or international entrepreneurship/design competitions
  • Be officially recognized as having innovation capabilities

If a company has already been established (within the past 5 years), it must meet at least one of the following:

  • The founder has invested over NT$1 million
  • Received over NT$2 million from venture capital or crowdfunding
  • Owns patents, has been selected for exhibitions, or has been officially recognized as an innovative enterprise

Application Process: Apply through the Foreign Professionals Online Application Platform to the National Immigration Agency, and the MOEA will review the application.
