Repayment Regulations

1. Conditions for Repaying Industry-Academia Scholarships

  • 1. No Repayment Required (Not Attributable to the Student)
    • The partnering enterprise ceases to provide living allowances during the student's study period due to operational adjustments, and the student is unable to find another sponsoring company despite school assistance, resulting in withdrawal from the program.
    • At the time of graduation, the partnering enterprise has no job openings, and the student cannot secure employment through school counseling and matching.
    • The partnering enterprise terminates the employment contract during the student's employment due to labor law provisions, and the student is unable to find other employment through school assistance.
    • The student is unable to continue their studies or employment due to death, serious illness, or accidents, as verified by a certified teaching hospital; or due to major family changes verified by the school.
  • 2. Repayment Required (Attributable to the Student)
    • The student voluntarily withdraws from the program during the study period for personal reasons, such as transferring schools or departments, taking leave and returning to their home country, or is dismissed or expelled according to school regulations after refusing to continue despite counseling.
    • The student performs poorly and fails academic or company evaluations, and is dismissed or expelled after no improvement through counseling.
    • After graduation, the student fails to fulfill the employment agreement by not working at a partnering enterprise or in a related field, or violates company regulations and has their contract lawfully terminated without improvement after counseling.
    • The student fails to commence employment with the partner company within 3 months after graduation.

2. Repayment Proportion for Unfulfilled Employment Obligations

  • If the student works at a partnering enterprise for less than the number of years they received the scholarship, they must repay the scholarship proportionally based on the number of unfulfilled months.
  • Any period of less than one month is calculated as one full month.
  • If the student works outside Taiwan, the repayment is calculated based on the number of months not employed in Taiwan. Periods of less than one month are also considered one full month.

3. Repayment Procedures and School Responsibilities

  • Schools are responsible for collecting repayments from students and remitting the funds to the Ministry of Education.
  • Schools must establish employment counseling mechanisms to assist students in fulfilling their employment obligations in Taiwan.
  • If the school has fully performed its counseling duties, it may be exempted from repayment collection responsibilities.
