🎯 Purpose

To assist international students in successfully securing employment in Taiwan after graduation, NSYSU established the "Experience Career Growth in Taiwan: Career & Employment Hub for International Students" in 2025. This hub collaborates with enterprises to design professional and Mandarin courses (including internships), speeches, job shadowing, and corporate visits, aiming to precisely cultivate international talent needed by Taiwan’s industries. Additionally, it establishes career counseling and employment support mechanisms to help international students access job opportunities in Taiwan while simultaneously tracking their employment status and strengthening connections between international alumni and their alma mater.

A dedicated "International Talent Recruitment Zone" will be set up at the 2025 NSYSU Kaohsiung-Pingtung Job Fair. Additionally, in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute, we will host the "Asia New Bay Area Employment Seminar for International Students." This event will invite companies from the information and communications technology (ICT) and semiconductor industries to share insights on the demand for international talent and preparations for international students seeking employment in Taiwan. On-site one-on-one interviews will also be available, helping international students understand Taiwan's job market, enhance their competitiveness, and successfully secure employment to maximize their potential.

📌 Features and Implementation

To further promote the mutual development of international talent and Taiwan's industries and to assist overseas Chinese and international students in securing employment in Taiwan after graduation, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) officially established the "Career and Employment Hub for International Students" on March 15, 2025. This hub integrates industry-academia resources and collaborates with enterprises to design professional and Mandarin courses (including internships), career speeches, job shadowing, and corporate visits. The goal is to cultivate international talent that aligns with Taiwan's industry needs, establish a comprehensive career counseling and employment guidance mechanism, and help international students stay informed about Taiwan's job market trends. Additionally, the hub strengthens alumni connections and enhances the support system for international students pursuing careers in Taiwan.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by NSYSU Senior Vice President Prof. Chih-Wen Kuo (郭志文), Vice President for Industry Collaboration Prof. Wei-Chih Lin (林韋至), Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Ming-Hsuan Lee (李明軒), and Associate Dean of the College of Social Sciences Dr. Brian Chih-Heng Fang (方志恒). The event was highlighted by a live performance from Chang-Hao Chen, a Malaysian-Chinese student from the Department of Information Management, who played Vietnamese, Malaysian, and Indonesian songs to celebrate the official launch of the hub. Vice President for Industry Collaboration Prof. Wei-Chih Lin emphasized that the hub’s exterior design features "Kaohsiung Bear - Hero", the city's mascot, combined with a classic recruitment poster style and the slogan "I Want You," symbolizing the "Team Taiwan" spirit. This visual representation extends an invitation to talented overseas students to join Taiwan’s workforce and grow alongside Kaohsiung.

Senior Vice President Chih-Wen Kuo pointed out that both central and local governments are working together to implement initiatives such as the "Great South, Great Development-the Southern Taiwan Development Policy," the "Asia New Bay Area 2.0-Smart Technology Innovation Park Promotion Plan," and the "Semiconductor S Corridor." These efforts have attracted top global high-tech enterprises—including TSMC, AUO, Pegatron, and AMD—to establish a presence in Kaohsiung, solidifying its status as a key global semiconductor hub and significantly increasing the demand for high-tech talent in southern Taiwan.

"As a global leader in technology, Taiwan’s semiconductor industry ranks at the forefront of the world. The government is making substantial investments in southern Taiwan to drive industrial upgrades and transformation," Senior Vice President Kuo stated. He further highlighted NSYSU's role in this transformation, emphasizing its commitment to becoming the "Innovation Engine for Southern Taiwan's Industrial Revolution." By collaborating with industries to establish cutting-edge research institutes and programs, NSYSU is dedicated to cultivating high-level talent capable of addressing industrial innovation challenges, making it the most influential talent cultivation hub in southern Taiwan.

As part of this initiative, we set up a "International Talent Recruitment Zone" at the "2025 NSYSU Kaohsiung-Pingtung Job Fair" held by Office of Student Affairs. In collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), under the guidance of the Industrial Development Administration, MOEA, we also hosted the "Asia New Bay Area Employment Seminar for International Students." Representatives from leading ICT and semiconductor companies such as Lite-On Technology, Radiant Opto-Electronics, Linker Vision, QNAP, and Intelligent Cloud Plus shared insights on international talent recruitment and employment preparation in Taiwan. Additionally, on-site one-on-one corporate interviews were arranged to help international students align with Taiwan’s job market, prepare for their careers in advance, and increase their chances of securing employment in Taiwan.

Vice President for Industry Collaboration Prof. Wei-Chih Lin emphasized that Taiwan’s technological advancements not only drive economic growth but also position the country in the global market, fostering deeper collaboration with Southeast Asian nations. At this pivotal moment of transformation and growth, he sincerely invites overseas and international students to seize this rare opportunity, join Taiwan's thriving technology industry, and co-create a win-win future where international talent and enterprises grow together, paving the way for a new era of shared prosperity between Taiwan and the world.
